REDUCING CRIME THROUGH AWARENESS

Schemes targeting robbery and burglary in both residential and commercial areas have proved a success with hard hitting messages being conveyed in several key UK areas running alongside associated sponsored partnership schemes.

These initiatives have resulted in an instant reduction in dwelling burglary and non dwelling burglary in specified target areas by up to 60%.

Thames Valley, Nottingham, Hampshire, Leicester, Avon & Somerset and The Metropolitan Police are among the constabularies who have benefited from the Trisign being employed for such operations.

Trisigns have been employed and erected to control and warn people of the consequences of anti-social behaviour and violent crime in conjunction with associated CCTV schemes.

The areas covered by Bristol City Council, Avon & Somerset Police, Peterborough Police, Metropolitan Boroughs, West Midlands and Hampshire Constabularies targeted street violence and districts troubled by drink and drug abuse as well as graffitti defacement. Positive messages warning of arrest and prosecution backed with Crimestoppers contact details resulted in a rapid shift in crime and drink related abuse away from targeted areas.

Areas experiencing problems related to vehicle speed excesses have been fitted with a range of Trisigns warning drivers to SLOW DOWN in designated areas.

Community Watch programmes have joined forces with constabularies in Bristol, Somerset and Safer Roads campaigns operated by Hampshire Police in making motorists aware that "dangerous driving will result in the vehicle being seized" and messages warning to "Check your Speed - Speed Kills".

Luton trading standards, in conjunction with Bedfordshire Police has successfully launched a NO COLD CALLING scheme across the county to warn rogue traders and fraudsters that they will face prosecution if they remain active in that district.

Since the Trisign scheme commenced, doorstep crime has plummeted to nearly ZERO in these targeted areas.

In a very short time the initiative resulted in the apprehension of rogue traders, illegal immigrants, fraudulent benefit claims and Inland Revenue issues. The scheme also acts as a deterrent to would be private dwelling thieves.
